About the unit

The Surgical Services Department at Jewish Hospital consists of the following three areas: Main Hospital; Heart Hospital; and Outpatient Care Center, which includes the Hand Care Center. Surgical Services is open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year to ensure all surgeries, including emergencies, are completed and the community’s health needs are met. Our service lines include Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Robotics, General, Colorectal, Urology, Transplant, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, ENT, Dental, Plastics, Hands, and Oral Maxillofacial. In total, we have 30 operating rooms, 2 of which are considered Hybrid rooms equipped to perform endovascular, robotic, and cardiothoracic surgeries. Our staff take pride in offering excellent care to our patients, as well as their families.

 

About Jewish Hospital

Responsibilities






Job Summary:

The anesthesia technician assists the anesthesia resident, Certified Nurse Anesthetist and anesthesia physician to maintain proper anesthesia supplies and equipment and the functioning of that equipment.  This position also requires knowledge of the functioning of all equipment used in the anesthesia department and also the trouble shooting of this equipment.  Examples of this equipment are anesthesia machines, video towers for difficult intubation, monitoring equipment etc.  Daily duties will include assisting with the turnover of rooms. The anesthesia technician must work with residents, physicians, nurses and materials management to provide proper and cost-effective supplies and equipment.









Qualifications






Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Broad knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology.
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year’s experience in hospital setting (operating room preferred).
  • Graduate of an anesthesia technician program.
  • Anesthesia tech or EMT experience.
