JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for supporting the Program Director in our DYCD-funded Cornerstone program serving youth and adults in the NYCHA building and surrounding communities. Direct oversight of after school program, including overall professional planning, supervision of department staff, monitoring participation of students and service delivery, compliance with DYCD standards, and record keeping. Maintain and respect the JCC’s mission.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Program Development – plan, implement, and evaluate programs and services for youth in beacon after-school program, maintaining existing programs and developing new services to meet emerging needs. Develop annual calendar of events to be included in grant work scope, including daily, weekly, monthly scheduling of after-school program as well as revising scheduling for special events or other circumstances. Assist Director to schedule enrichment trips and activities. Schedule ongoing community service projects for children in the after-school program. Assist Director to maintain policies and procedures for the after-school and evening/weekend programs. Serve as staff for vacation day programming, summer camp, and Saturday day programming as needed.
- Administration – Maintain registration and other program paperwork, as necessary. Maintain building bulletin boards. Participate in departmental and agency training, staff meetings, supervisory conferences, committees and special events. Assume building coverage as assigned. Purchase supplies, equipment, food etc. for after-school program. Coordinates room scheduling and maintenance set-ups for after-school program with Director. Coordinate transportation with JCC Transportation Department as needed.
- Supervision of Staff – assist in the hiring, training, supervising, and coordinating of teachers, group leaders, and consultants in the areas of technology, recreation, fitness & sports, emotional wellness, arts & culture, leadership, etc.
- Marketing/PR – developing marketing/public relations for after-school program in conjunction with Marketing Director and Supervisor. Submit appropriate information for Program Guide, monthly newsletter, website and social media.
- Maintain working knowledge of DYCD and DOH regulations and codes, responsible for appearance and safety of facility, and ability to handle site inspections and program audits in the event Director is unavailable.
- Compliance with all DYCD standards – assist Director to report monthly service units to DYCD and related funders, enter all data in DYCD database as required by contract (currently DYCD Connect), represent department at all DYCD meetings, maintenance of all administrative records according to program requirements and applicable regulations including personnel training, documents, and files, as well as permits and certifications for facility and staff.
- Community Partnerships – develop and maintain strong relationships with participants, parents, colleagues, school staff (i.e. principals and parent coordinators, partner organizations, and community served. Responsible for attending local community events on behalf of the JCC, as well as coordinating parent orientations and community events to promote engagement.
- Outreach – responsible for program promotion and maintaining affiliations and memberships with local coalitions and committees targeting at-risk and/or underserved youth that will support program development and high quality service delivery. Outreach to and involvement with school liaisons and parents at all levels of program development and recruitment.
- Advisory Board & Youth Council – assist Director to recruit, develop, and cultivate potential members. Responsible for co-facilitating monthly meetings and working closely with the chairperson to ensure ongoing meetings are held and feedback is received and implemented, as appropriate.
- Compliance with all agency requirements, including resolution of disciplinary problems and completion of incident reports as needed.
- Participate in all JCC required functions.
- Attend all required JCC staff meetings and training, as appropriate.
- Work in collaboration with other departments and staff, maintaining open communication.
- Report to Director of Community Based Youth Programs and DYCD Program Manager.
- All other projects assigned by supervisor.
OUR REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or two (2) years’ experience working in a youth-serving program with at least one (1) year in a supervisory/managerial position.
- Minimum of 30 hours training every two (2) years
- Three letters of recommendation
- Criminal history clearance
- NYS Department of Health fingerprinted
- State Central Registry clearance documentation are required
- Updated physical and tuberculosis/PPD skin test, to be completed every two (2) years
- Proficient computer knowledge and skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and programmatic skills
- Detail oriented and well organized
- Flexible and able to handle multiple projects at the same time.
- Innovative, imaginative and provide a positive role model for participants and staff.
- Independent judgment, initiative and advanced administrative skills.
- Both weekend and evening hours on a regular basis.
SALARY:
$42,0000 - $48,000 Annually
30 hours per week
