Position Summary: The Associate Director, Career Advising and Employer Strategy will represent the Shevet Glaubach Center for Career Strategy and Professional Development while building relationships with companies currently not engaged with Yeshiva University, and in areas that represent those of growth and focus in the industry as well as at YU. In addition, the individual coaches and advises students, individually and in groups, on issues related to career planning strategies in various fields. Measurable criteria will be established for employer development goals, maintaining records, and submitting monthly reports.

Employers will be courted and followed up with as they move through the relationship development and management process with the goal of bringing mentors, internships, employment opportunities, and experiential opportunities to the students at YU.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who evaluates student and corporate partner needs, develops strategies, and proactively takes appropriate action as a result. The Associate Director is responsible for tracking, auditing, and analyzing internship and placement outcomes with high attention to detail and accountability. The Shevet Glaubach Center uses a career communities model for advising and individuals applying for this role will be considered based on both the best fit for the department and the most applicable experience for leading one of our Communities.
Position Responsibilities: 
  • Identify and prospect employers for YU students through a targeted employer outreach campaign strategy under the direction of the Senior Director of Employer Relations & Engagement.
  • Create and lead individualized career strategy sessions and group educational programs for students in the assigned career community, through in-person, virtual and online resources.
  • Pilot innovative approaches for building partnerships and engaging employers with a mindset for understanding the needs of an international student population, the work authorization process for international candidates, and opportunities within assigned fields for both men and women.
  • Implement a career community approach; partner with faculty and alumni to provide a holistic career strategy while in school and for post-graduation, leading to the beginning of an impactful career, whether it be a great job and/or acceptance into a master’s program and/or terminal degree.
  • Use historical employer data on accepted employment offers to further develop employer relationships going forward, creating stronger employer relationships and opportunity pipelines.
  • Leverage employer connections within the alumni community to connect students to those who can promote/prepare them.
  • Educate students on both traditional career preparedness topics as well as those relating specifically to assigned fields; evaluate gaps in student engagement and skill sets; create and execute plans to establish connections with the student population and equip students with necessary competencies.
  • Think creatively and proactively about professional development and career search experience for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Facilitate career courses for assigned fields, drawing upon alumni and other industry leaders to provide panels and guest lectures about how their education translated into a career.
  • Meet criteria established for employer development goals, maintaining records, and submitting monthly reports; demonstrate excellent analytical skills while evaluating and implementing recruiting needs.
  • In collaboration with Center staff, work with academic departments, Deans, Chairs, faculty, University Advancement, and other University staff to help foster connections to employers and to expand experiential and employment opportunities for students.
  • Communicate the strengths, and historical and present successes, of our students and alumni to potential employers.
  • Collaborate with staff and faculty who play a role in the success of our students and alumni.
Experience & Education Background:
  • Minimum five years experience working in a customer service, career advising, and/or recruiting role.
  • Master's degree preferred; directly related experience considered.
  • Demonstrable growth in a client-focused position.
  • Able to use a CRM to input and track employer and alumni activity.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work as a team member; to think creatively and to evaluate and improve existing processes and procedures.
  • Able to leverage personal and professional connections and to have the resourcefulness necessary to connect the dots and establish connections within the YU alumni community and beyond.
  • Successfully collaborate with staff and faculty who play a role in the success of the students and alumni. Success will be measured by the number of relationships established and maintained with faculty and the feedback provided by the staff to the AVP & ED.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $85,000
