Our team is growing, and JCC Greater Boston has created new Human Resources positions to support the achievement of our strategic priorities!  

Our new Human Resources (HR) Manager for Benefits and Leave Administration position is envisioned as a critical member of our dynamic HR team to oversee HR benefits and leave practices and effectively manage these vital HR programs and services. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the HR Manager collaborates to ensure effective administration of all benefits and leaves, researches and incorporates industry best practices, maintains compliance with regulations and law, and aligns services with JCC values to achieve our strategic goals, objectives, and best-in-class aspirations.

As a trusted advisor and strategic partner, the Human Resource Manager plays a critical role in providing valuable and accurate guidance and support to employees (leaders, managers, and staff) and, with keen acumen, ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This role contributes to our strategic retention initiatives by driving creative and competitive benefits and leave management solutions emphasizing employee well-being and satisfaction to strengthen the greater JCC community. This position is our subject-matter expert for benefits/leave administration and is both tactical and strategic, with responsibilities straddling strategic practice development and planning and the efficient/effective execution of benefits and leave processing to best support our dynamic community organization.

Connecting with employees at all levels, this professional ensures that our employees receive accurate and clear information, are well guided/advised on policies and procedures, and experience excellent HR services. Collaborating with the HR team, this position strives to foster efficient and effective workflows and contributes to improvements. Our primary object is to strengthen HR services, practices and operations fostering excellent services so each employee thrives in their employment with JCC Greater Boston.

Requiring a solid foundation in the Benefits and Leave administration or extensive successful related HR Generalist work, primary responsibilities include, and are not limited to:

  • Overseeing leave management and ensuring practices are compliant with complex and overlapping regulations and policies; administering all aspects of family and medical leave of absences, including but not limited to FMLA, PFML, Mass sick leave, Parental Leave programs, and other absence management practices  
  • Managing and administering all aspects of Worker's Compensation, ADA Reasonable Accommodations and medical leave requests, and short-term or long-term disability plans with expert knowledge of regulations and law
  • Actively support developing, refining, implementing, and managing effective and efficient benefits and leave HR practices
  • Overseeing and administering all benefits (including ACA and 403B eligibility monitoring)
  • Supporting the design of comprehensive, competitive, and attractive benefit offerings that foster employee well-being and satisfaction, ensuring the offered benefits align with our strategic priorities and budget
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations, including but not limited to: federal, state, and local laws related to benefits, ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA/PFML, WC Law, and other statutory benefits and leave provisions
  • Co-creating and delivering the Welcome/Benefits Orientation program and onboarding program
  • Collaborate with our JCCGB internal experts to offer excellent ongoing wellness opportunities
  • Contributing to other relevant programs/practices, priority strategic initiatives, and projects as assigned

This full-time, salaried position offers a comprehensive benefits package, a supportive work environment with a hybrid work option, and a competitive starting salary of $75,000 – $90,000 annually. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by relevant qualifications, experience, and JCC's internal equity.

Requirements

Education and Experience: The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources. Human Resources certification and demonstrated working knowledge of/success in a non-profit environment are a plus. Experience or knowledge of HRIS, payroll, or benefits administration systems/platforms is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.

Skills and Abilities, include and are not limited to:

  • Must have proficiency with software and computer applications and in Microsoft Suite/Web-based products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good project management, meeting deadlines with attention to detail, and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage situations effectively and diplomatically and adapt to evolving needs and circumstances.
  • Must be a self-starter who takes the initiative.
  • Must display superb interpersonal and active listening skills; superb communication skills (written and oral).
  • Works independently and with others, building/sustaining collaborative working relationships.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

Physical Requirements:  

  • Able to focus and produce in a busy, dynamic and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds (supplies, files, archive boxes etc.); able to bend, crouch, reach to manage physical personnel files.
  • This is standard office work frequently using a computer as a desk; requires the ability to sit/stand for long periods of time at a desk.
  • This is a hybrid position; some essential duties may be performed remotely, while some requires in-person/on-site presence 2-3 days per week.
