Position Summary:      



The Admissions Information Associate is the first line of communication and information between potential applicants, their parents, schools, and advisors and the University. He/She must be able to communicate accurate information about the university, academic majors and programs and provide recommendations to and counsel prospective students.


 


This position has no direct staff management responsibility but has a primarily external focus and is responsible for representing YU to all prospective students and families.


He/She will also act as a liaison between the prospect and appropriate College departments to facilitate a best in class student experience.



Position Responsibilities:




  • Field calls from potential applicants, their parents, schools and advisors in an effort to provide an excellent first impression of Yeshiva University

  • Facilitate prompt and courteous responses to a variety of inquiries ranging from admissions requirements to the status of an application in addition to curriculum specifics including Judaic and secular classes, etc.

  • Perform quality control checks to insure accuracy on all admissions documents such as: applications, transcripts, and test scores. Proactively contact applicants regarding missing information or documents

  • Use university systems (Banner and EMAS) to track students, update status, and obtain/disseminate information as needed

  • Update YU Admissions information on social media (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc.) providing relevant content while monitoring conversations/feedback. Manage “YU admits” emails and communication

  • Coordinate appointments, interviews and tours

  • Greet visitors to the office

  • Assist with admissions events and tournaments ◦Ensure proper staffing and resources which may include current and former 

  • YU students Track submission of paperwork and payment from participating schools

  • Create and disseminate PR material and Admissions packets



Experience & Educational Background:




  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • 1-2 years of related experience preferred



Skills & Competencies:




  • Speaks clearly and expresses self well in one-on-one conversations and over the telephone in a positive and “up beat” manner

  • Knowledge of the Jewish Community and the Day school network

  • Develops effective written communications and uses them appropriately

  • Interacts and proactively shares information with internal and external contacts where appropriate

  • Keeps appropriate confidences

  • Develops effective relationships with applicants, parents, school administrators, peers,and employees

  • Assumes responsibility to ensure issues/concerns will be addressed and monitors them through conclusion

  • Identifies, defines and analyzes information and situations before recommending a course of action

  • Effectively manages own time and resources

  • Comfort with learning new computer software
