Montefiore is seeking to appoint a Dementia Consultant to complement their extensive and well-resourced multi-disciplinary team for a permanent part-time position.


Reporting to the Dementia Services Manager you will be instrumental in implementing and sustaining an effective dementia strategy, improving the participation in everyday activities, quality of life and care for people living with dementia and their carers.


Along with effective interpersonal skills, leadership capabilities, and strong computer literacy, we will be looking for you to demonstrate (at a minimum) the following:



  • Extensive dementia knowledge, including differential diagnosis and factors that exacerbate dementia including comorbidities and their interactions

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working in an inpatient setting treating behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia, as well as various mental health conditions presenting in people 65 years and older

  • Extensive knowledge of external community and healthcare services and agencies, tools, techniques and resources available to optimise client, carer and staff wellbeing

  • Excellent skills in supporting dignity of risk and harm reduction strategies to support person-centred care

  • Sophisticated knowledge of advanced care plans and directives, enduring guardianship, guardianship, power of attorney, use of policy and legislation to promote individuals’ rights

  • Practice in a culturally responsive and safe manner across culturally diverse client groups

  • Excellent skills in facilitating education for best practice dementia care utilising various training modes

  • Sound knowledge about trauma-informed care

  • In conjunction with the essential criteria, you enjoy being hands-on, have a strong work ethic and can exhibit an understanding of the Jewish community and culture.
