Work Setting: Hybrid with 1 day remote


Reports To: Employment Program Manager


Pay Rate: $24.50/hour

Position Overview: 


JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Refugee Resettlement team as the Employment Case Manager. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your customer service skills and mentorship experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Employment Case Manager plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by providing individualized support to refugee clients enrolled in employment programs guiding them to long term self-sufficiency.  This position reports directly to the Employment Program Manager and works closely with the Employment Team and the rest of the Refugee Resettlement Department.


Responsibilities:



  • Implements SDNP program by following program guidelines and ensuring compliance of service throughout program activities 

  • Provides complete case management and employment service duties including client prescreening, intake, interests and career assessments, client file set up and ongoing maintenance, database input, and post placement follow-up calls

  • Provides culturally competent case management to ensure highest level of culturally appropriate service to diverse client population 

  • Creates and presents workshops on employment topics and more as part of ongoing employment education and acculturation training

  • Participates in ongoing trainings and SDNP cohort meeting as assigned

  • Develops and assists in maintaining employer and community partnerships, acting as a representative of JFSSD while in the community

  • Conducts home visits to deliver relevant client documents, check on family status and provide transportation to appointments

  • Acts as a collaborative team player with a can-do attitude, flexibility in a busy office environment, and possess quick critical thinking ability to identify creative solutions to complex challenges

  • Other duties as assigned



    Skills/Abilities That are a Must-Have:



    • Second language fluency in Arabic or Haitian-Creole required

    • One to two years’ experience providing employment services or case management services

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to diversify approach when working with diverse communities

    • Previous experience communicating with individuals who have limited English proficiency; Able to work with and relate to participants and be culturally sensitive

    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines; strong attention to detail

    • Skilled with data management, will be responsible for daily data entry to program database and completing financial tracking

    • Familiarity with refugees, asylees, immigrants, young adults, and low-income populations is a plus

    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, customers, community service providers and businesses

    • Skilled in MS Office suite

    • Familiarity with federal grants and related programming is a plus

    • Proven customer service skills and ability to provide conflict resolution

    • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment and to excel in highly visible, public settings

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ability to navigate other databases


    Skills/Abilities We’d like you to Have:



    • Some college, bachelor’s degree desirable
