Reports To:  Employment Program Manager


Pay Rate: $23/hour

Position Overview:


JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Refugee Resettlement team as the Employment Services Case Aide.  In this role, you have the opportunity to use your second language skills and administrative support experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Employment Case Aide plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency collaborating with employment staff to connect newly arrived refugees with employment programming. This support position provides direct service to clients, completes administrative duties, and assists in case management.  This position reports directly to the Employment Program Manager and works closely with the Employment team and the rest of the Refugee Resettlement team.


Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate with team to provide employment services to newly arrived refugee clients

  • Presents weekly workshops on various topics as part of ongoing employment education and acculturation training in English and second language Arabic or Haitian-Creole

  • Provides culturally competent case management support to ensure highest level of culturally appropriate service to diverse client population

  • Responsible for data inputting, compiling reports and other administrative duties as assigned

  • Completes appropriate documentation for services and activities following program guidelines

  • Develops and assists in maintaining employer and community partnerships, acting as a representative of JFSSD while in the community

  • Conducts services in the field, transporting clients to appointments, serving as advocate and providing wrap-around services

  • Serving as main staff person for in-field services, spending 3 days per week in field

  • Collaborates with Haitian Services Coordinator to provide follow up with virtual interpretation support and follow ups as directed

  • Acts as a collaborative team player with a can-do attitude, flexibility in a busy office environment, and possess quick critical thinking ability to identify creative solutions to complex challenges

  • Other duties as assigned


Skills/Abilities That are a Must-Have:



  • Second language fluency in Haitian-Creole or Arabic required

  • High School or GED equivalent

  • Valid California Driver’s License and operating vehicle with insurance

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to diversify approach when working with diverse communities

  • Proven customer service skills and ability to provide conflict resolution

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines; strong attention to detail

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ability to navigate other databases


Skills/Abilities We’d like you to Have:



  • High school diploma or equivalent GED, or some college, bachelor’s degree desirable

  • Administrative support experience is helpful
