Executive Director, JDC Israel

JDC Israel works to strengthen Israeli society’s capacity to care for all its people, to close social gaps and to promote resilience and social justice. Today, over one million Israelis benefit from social services that have been initiated and developed by JDC Israel over the years. JDC Israel works in strategic partnerships with the Government of Israel, local municipalities, civil society, the business sector, and philanthropy, playing a critical role in meeting the needs of vulnerable people and adapting its role to ensure that responses remain relevant to the changing needs of Israeli society.

The Executive Director of JDC Israel will lead JDC Israel’s work in planning and executing the development of high impact solutions to build resilience and strengthen Israeli society, focusing on vulnerable populations.



Key Responsibilities

  • Direct management and oversight of JDC Israel
  • Build strategic vision for JDC Israel’s work in cooperation with stakeholders
  • Develop, maintain and grow existing and new partnerships with stakeholders, in Israel and abroad 
  • Build, maintain and integrate partnerships with multiple central and local government entities, and with NGOs and the corporate sector. Operate a major, multi-ministry contract with the Government of Israel
  • Interface with JDC’s Board of Directors and closely collaborate with the Chairs of the Israel Executive Committee and the Committee members
  • Encourage and promote innovation and groundbreaking solutions in all areas of JDC Israel’s work including data and technology
  • Collaborate with JDC's Resource Development Department and support their efforts in securing funding for JDC
  • Educate and engage JDC lay leaders, mission participants and others on JDC’s work in the field
  • Build and maintain partnerships with individual donors and foundations
  • Represent JDC at external forums
  • Member of JDC Executive Team




Key Competencies, Qualifications and Other Requirements

  • Proven senior management experience and skills
  • Leader, willing and able to make courageous decisions
  • Sophisticated, cosmopolitan strategic thinker
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of working with the central and local government in Israel
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the global Jewish ecosystem
  • Proven ability to work effectively with the NGO and business sectors. Proven capacity to work with diverse stakeholders
  • Outstanding interpersonal, collaborative partnering skills 
  • Substantial familiarity with JDC’s engagement in Israel; preferred
  • Academic degree; advanced degree preferred
  • Effective and engaging presenter in Hebrew and English
  • Full proficiency in reading and writing in Hebrew and English




Additional Details:

Full time position based in Israel.

The Executive Director of JDC Israel reports to the CEO of JDC.
