Position Overview:


JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Facilities team as the Facilities Maintenance Lead. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your organizational and trouble shooting skills and facility maintenance experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Facility Maintenance Lead plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by being responsible for the smooth operation and maintenance of all JFS-related facilities. This role includes managing vendor relationships, overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance, and handling special projects. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations and works closely with the Facilities Coordinator, the Senior Facilities Project Manager, and the rest of the Business Services team.


Responsibilities:



  • Vendor and Contract Management: Oversee vendor relationships and manage contracts to ensure high standards of quality and compliance

  • Day-to-Day Operations: Manage daily preventive and corrective maintenance for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across JFS worksites, Safe Parking Program lots, Atlas properties, and the affordable housing complex. Provide additional support for maintenance at the Reception Center as needed

  • Respond to and prioritize facility requests from staff in a timely manner (Ex: moving furniture, managing deliveries and vendors, etc.)

  • Building Systems Management: Supervise and support procedures for building systems, including fire alarms, HVAC, and building alarms, ensuring effective monitoring

  • Physical Security Implementation: Work with the Director of Safety and Security to implement and maintain physical security measures

  • Special Projects: Assist with overseeing and completing special projects, including capital projects

  • Safety and Compliance: Support CalOSHA compliance practices and maintain certification in CalOSHA safety training

  • Event Support: Handle facility-related needs for both onsite and offsite events as required

  • Report all known safety hazards, equipment issues and customer concerns to supervisor

  • Respond quickly to emergency situations. Including afterhours and on weekends as needed

  • Perform other similar duties or projects as assigned and requested


Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Minimum of 3 years of verifiable building maintenance experience

  • Intermediate level understanding and experience in the following basic trades: electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, painting, carpet care, appliance repair

  • Valid California driver’s license

  • Basic computer skills; able to navigate and utilize Microsoft Word and Outlook 360

  • Team player with a great attitude, excellent customer service skills, effective communication skills, and efficient decision-making skills

  • Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot issues

  • Demonstrate an awareness and appreciation of the cultural diversity of the community


Physical Requirements:



  • The ability to stand, walk, lift, twist, and bend on a frequent basis, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment necessary to complete assignments
