Reports To: Housing Manager


Pay Rate: $21.72/hour

Position Overview: 


JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the HUD Palm Springs team as the Housing Assistant. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your organizational and multi-tasking skills and customer service experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across the Coachella Valley. The Housing Assistant plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by taking on roles and responsibilities that will help us better serve our clients. This position reports directly to the Housing Manager and works closely with the Housing Team and the rest of the HUD Program team.


Responsibilities:



  • Food Pickup and Delivery

  • Maintain good donor relationship during recurring food pickup from various locations including: Jensens’, Panera, FIND Food Bank, McDonald’s, Starbucks, KFC, etc

  • Loading and Unloading furniture, food, donated items, etc

  • Completing, Delivering and Retrieval of Documentation

  • Picking up Notices

  • Lawn Maintenance

  • Assisting in Placing and Relocating Clients

  • Conducting HUD Housing Quality Standard Inspections and Reports

  • Assisting with In-Kind Donations

  • Assisting with Outreach Services

  • Assisting with Food Distribution and Preparation

  • Assembling and Delivering household furniture and household items

  • Organizing In-Kind, storage and outreach closet

  • Inventory Management

  • Maintaining invoices and donation receipts

  • Assist with inputting data into client database

  • Other responsibilities, as assigned


Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:



  • Highschool diploma or equivalent

  • A clean driving record

  • Excellent oral communication skills

  • Must have a valid California Driver’s License

  • Must Pass livescan and drug screening

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during a shift

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move for several hours at a time

  • Good people/customer service skills
