Our team is growing, and JCC Greater Boston has created new Human Resources positions to support the achievement of our strategic priorities!  

Our new Human Resources (HR) Generalist position is envisioned as a critical member of our dynamic HR team performing general day-to-day administration of vital HR programs and services. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the HR Generalist collaborates to ensure effective administration of HR practices, researches and incorporates industry best practices, and aligns services with JCC values to achieve our strategic goals, objectives, and best-in-class aspirations.

Interacting with employees to ensure that HR is fully accessible to the organization and as the initial point of contact for employees, this role is responsible for effectively triaging requests for HR services, providing timely responses, fostering high-quality HR services, and owning administrative processes such as Unemployment Claims processing, employment verifications, completing and issuing hiring letters, supporting benefits and workers compensation processing, overseeing employee records retention, and supporting other HR, recruitment and employment processes.

Connecting with employees at all levels, this professional ensures that our employees receive accurate and precise information, are well guided/advised on policies and procedures, and experience excellent HR services. Collaborating with the HR team, this position strives to foster efficient and effective operations and workflows, and contributes to system/program improvements. Our primary object is to strengthen HR services, practices and operations fostering excellent services so each employee thrives in their employment with JCC Greater Boston.

The HR Generalist will work closely with the Director and other HR team members to contribute to the successful execution of several annual strategic priorities (initiatives and projects). Experience, skill set, area of interest, area of adept knowledge, and other strengths will determine project assignments. Current projects include co-creating and implementing an employee exit interview and survey program, a best-in-class onboarding program and Welcome/Benefits Orientation, a New Manager Orientation/Onboarding Program, and updating and revamping our employee policies and procedures handbooks.

This is a full-time, salaried position offering a comprehensive benefits package, a supportive work environment with hybrid work options, and a competitive starting salary of $58,000 – $72,000 annually. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by relevant qualifications and experience, and JCC's internal equity.

Requirements

Education and Experience: The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field and 3-5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources. Human Resources certification and demonstrated working knowledge of/success in a non-profit environment are a plus. Experience or knowledge of HRIS, payroll, or benefits administration systems/platforms is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.

Skills and Abilities include and are not limited to:

  • Must be proficient with software and computer applications and proficient in Microsoft Suite/Web-based products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good project management, meeting deadlines with attention to detail, and maintaining high-quality standards
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage situations effectively and diplomatically and adapt to evolving needs and circumstances
  • Must be a self-starter who takes the initiative
  • Must display superb interpersonal and active listening skills; superb communication skills (written and oral)
  • Works independently and with others, building/sustaining collaborative working relationships
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders

Physical Requirements:  

  • Able to focus and produce in a busy, dynamic and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds (supplies, files, archive boxes etc.); able to bend, crouch, reach to manage physical personnel files
  • This is standard office work frequently using a computer as a desk; requires the ability to sit/stand for long periods of time at a desk.
  • This is a hybrid position; some essential duties may be performed remotely, while some requires in-person/on-site presence 2-3 days per week.
