Launched in 2012 to combat the rising threat of terrorism, Federation’s Community Security Initiative (CSI) continues to serve a unique role in its protection of every Jewish school, synagogue, summer camp, and organization in Jewish Los Angeles.

 

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Intelligence Analyst will help to lead the fight against antisemitism in Southern California by becoming an integral part of the newly formed Southern California Jewish Security Alliance, a joint effort of ADL, the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles and other Jewish organizations in Southern California. Embedded in ADL’s Center on Extremism (COE), the Intelligence Analyst will oversee three main functions: 1) conducting enhanced investigative research and analysis into antisemitism in Southern California; 2) aligning and coordinating interagency responses to counter antisemitism in Southern California; and 3) supporting and delivering education of partners, law enforcement, policymakers, the public and other stakeholders about local antisemitic actors, incidents, trends and other developments.

Responsibilities

Primary: 

  • Detecting, tracking and analyzing physical threats, hate incidents and extremist trends related to the Southern California Jewish community, both on the ground and on social media, through OSINT monitoring of mainstream and alternative social media platforms and documenting notable developments, patterns and trends.
  • Identifying credible threats, helping to coordinate joint agency responses and the drafting and distribution of alerts for law enforcement and the broader community.
  • Streamlining and standardizing communications between partner organizations in order to improve information sharing and strategic alignment.
  • Producing written analyses, visual presentations and other materials to educate partners, policymakers, law enforcement, media, communities, organizations and other stakeholders about antisemitic hate and extremist threats in the region.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to inform organizational strategies and decisions on short-term protection efforts and medium-to-long term prevention tactics.
  • Representing ADL, CSI and other partners at events and in the media as necessary.

Work Experience:

  • The ideal candidate has three or more years of relevant experience and is able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the subject matter and a progressive increase in professional responsibilities.
  • Prior experience with complex project management involving internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to plan and organize major organizational activities while managing multiple priorities
  • Proven track record of deep investigative research and analysis, with prior experience with OSINT techniques and corporate research a big plus.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

 

Work Environment:

Compensation: 

  • This position has a salary range of $60,000 to $94,800. This salary range is reflective of a position based in Los Angeles, California. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
