Position Summary:      



Manages all interlibrary loan transactions.  Fulfills requests for loans to other institutions as well as requests to borrow on behalf of university constituents from other institutions.



Position Responsibilities:




  • Coordinate all interlibrary loan requests

  • Fulfill requests for loans to other institutions as well as requests to borrow on behalf of university constituents from other institutions

  • Track data and statistics on interlibrary loan transactions

  • Coordinates activities relating to the circulation of general library materials and the Reserve Collections.

  • Performs routine maintenance tasks (software installation, removal and update), reformats data for staff and troubleshoots library computer equipment, all under the supervision of the Library Systems Administrator

  • Interprets faculty reserve requests.

  • Identifies complex problems relating to legal materials and/or legal invoices by interpreting information in library files or bibliographic tools and takes the necessary action to resolve these problems.  Identifies and updates information in online vendor and payment files.

  • Supplies information to library users by using a large number of library resources and involving substantial knowledge of a subject field or collection and of library technology services offered to patrons.

  • Performs advanced cataloging tasks under supervision of a librarian.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.



Experience & Educational Background:




  • Minimum 4 years library experience required

  • College degree or documented educational equivalent preferred



Skills & Competencies:




  • Must have excellent reading, data entry and word processing skills; mathematical skills where appropriate; accuracy and attention to detail

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

  • High level of familiarity with library policies and procedures

  • Familiarity with library equipment and ability to communicate to users how the equipment functions.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the Library website and ability to direct users to relevant sections and services

  • Customer service demeanor, good listening skills, patience when dealing with patrons

  • Sound judgment about when to respond and when to refer patrons and/or questions to a professional librarian or supervisor

  • Should project a positive attitude about the Library and the University when interacting with Library patrons and staff members of other institutions

  • Self-discipline and judgment are essential as work will often be performed in the absence of a supervisor
