Maintenance Officer/Handyman

Montefiore is seeking a maintenance/handyperson to become an integral part of their cohesive maintenance team in Randwick. This is for a 12 month fixed term contract.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and empathy for older people, be able to juggle many tasks at once and have the ability to prioritise jobs. Previous experience in a similar role within aged care, retirement villages or building works would be highly advantageous. A formal trade qualification is preferred. 

Some of the key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide transport services and maintenance of building, equipment and furnishings in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Providing maintenance services including
    • basic carpentry repairs
    • replacing fluorescent light tubes and globes
    • replacing tap and cistern washers
    • clearing drains
    • furniture removal
    • function set ups
    • responsible for pool water testing
    • cleaning of BBQs and Terraces
    • assist with gardening services
  • Emergency Coordinator duties
  • Carrying out ad hoc duties

Essential Criteria:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Basic knowledge of tools, processes and skills used in the repair of residential properties
  • Demonstrated ability to repair and maintain a variety of equipment and hardware
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and complete jobs in a set period with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage own time
