About us:

The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a global Jewish human rights activist organization that confronts anti-Semitism and hate, stands with Israel, defends the safety of Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust for future generations.  It is an accredited Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) at the United Nations, UNESCO and the OSCE, the Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe.  The SWC is headquartered in Los Angeles with offices in New York, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Paris, Jerusalem, and Buenos Aires. The Museum of Tolerance Los Angeles, founded in 1993, is the educational arm of the SWC. Moriah Films is the Center’s two-time Academy Award®-winning film division and the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem is scheduled to open in 2024.

About the role:

The Museum of Tolerance is looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Tour Guides. In this role, you will lead engaging and educational tours across all permanent and special exhibitions, enhancing the experience for every visitor. Ideal candidates are passionate about history, human rights, and education and possess excellent communication skills.

The tour guide position offers a flexible schedule of 5 - 8 hour shifts between the hours of 8:30 am and 3:30 pm, Sunday through Friday. 

A minimum commitment of 3 shifts per week is required. 

This role is 100% onsite at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles. 

About you:

You are deeply committed to ensuring the Museum of Tolerance remains meaningful to our visitors, strongly believe in the museum's mission, and uphold the values of human and civil rights as well as Holocaust education. Additionally, you exhibit a positive attitude, professional conduct, and exceptional customer service skills.  

Responsibilities:

• Lead museum tours and assist museum visitors
• Serve as a stationary guide in assigned locations
• Communicate with Floor Coordinator team daily for assigned duties
• Participate in all professional development opportunities
• Other duties as assigned by full-time Floor Coordinator Supervisor

Experience and Skills:

• Comfortable in a dynamic, fast paced and highly flexible environment
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
• Excellent presentation skills with groups and general public
• Ability and desire to work with students of all ages, especially high school students
• Multilingual skills are a bonus 
  

Physical Requirements:

• This job requires standing/walking for up to 3 hours multiple times per day
