Reports To:  Nutrition Operations Manager

Pay Rate: $19.50-$20.00/hour

Position Overview:

The Nutrition Home Delivered Meals Program of Jewish Family Service provides nutritious home-style meals to older adults, delivered to their home.  With each delivery, Drivers will also check in on the participants’ well-being and provide a connection to other services at JFS as needed.  Drivers utilize both personal and agency vehicles to complete deliveries, maintain food safety, and abide by all procedures covered during initial training.  This position supports the ongoing success of the program, assisting with various aspects including food package assembly, delivery, data tracking, and client support, as well as general Warehouse Support and Fresh Rescue retail pick-ups when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Loading, transporting, and delivering food packages to clients in a safe, courteous, and timely manner
  • Assist in the Food Pantry warehouse: assembling packages of groceries and frozen meals for distribution, sorting and storing food donations and fresh rescue donations
  • Assist with Food Pantry Food Distributions: collecting client demographic information, distributing pre-assembled food packages, working alongside volunteers
  • Direct communication with to clients currently enrolled in the program
  • Assist with all aspects of food rescue procurement including driving throughout San Diego to pick-up donations, documentation, relationship building with existing/new donors
  • Other responsibilities, as assigned

Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid CA driver’s license, insurance, a reliable personal vehicle, and willingness to travel off-site
  • Ability to push/pull/lift 50 lbs., repeatedly throughout the shift
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs
  • Ability to provide friendly, client centered customer service and public interactions
  • Ability to drive, inspect and maintain vehicles including catering (hot/cold) trucks
  • Able to read a map/follow GPS and abide by all traffic rules
  • Ability to calculate daily mileage and record transit activity
  • Ability to utilize both paper routing and specialized delivery app, cell phones, and GPS
  • Access to a computer, printer, e-mail and internet off-the-job
  • Flexible availability

Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:

  • Knowledge of the aging process and diversity preferred
