About the Unit

Jewish Hospital Main Downtown Campus is home to a 23-bed recovery area where they provide service to a large population of patients from all over the country. The nurses in this area come with years of critical care experience that provide top notch care to services lines such as neurosurgery, urology, cardiac, thoracic, plastics, vascular, colorectal, general and transplant surgeries. The surgical services area is open 24 hours a day,365 days a year to cater to all cases including emergencies. Scheduled cases per day can range from 25-40 with a nurse-to-patient ratio ranging from 1:1 to 5:1 based on ASPAN guidelines.

Job Summary

The Clinical Assistant provides clinical patient care support in a caring, safe, and efficient manner, under the supervision and delegation of the Registered Nurse. In collaboration with patients and families (as defined by the patient) the Clinical Assistant is responsible for the care of the patient. The Clinical Assistant adheres to and is supportive of the hospital and the department of Nursing mission and philosophy.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED/ equivalent (required)
    • Individuals between the ages of 16 and 18 may be employed on a temporary basis in positions not prohibited and for hours not to exceed those prescribed by the Department of Labor and the Commonwealth of Kentucky and who are on the path to earning a high school diploma or GED (see Employment of Minors policy)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare setting
  • State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA) by the Kentucky Board of Nursing (preferred)
