Who We Are:
Moishe (pronounced moy-shuh) House is what being Jewish in your 20s is all about. Launched in 2006 when four friends began hosting Shabbat dinners in their home, Moishe House provides a space for over 70,000 young adults around the world to create meaningful, welcoming Jewish communities for themselves and their peers each year. To date, there are more than 150 communities in over 40 countries, and we’re still growing!
Moishe House seeks a talented Program Specialist, Retreats, to be the driver for planning and implementing all staff-led retreats for North America, while ensuring uniquely crafted, high quality retreat experiences for participants. The Retreats Specialist partners with the Jewish Education Team to ensure that the gatherings align with Moishe House’s educational strategy of engagement with its constituents. Reporting into the Director, Immersive Experiences, the Program Specialist for Retreats thrives in a fast-paced environment, is able to think on the fly, is extremely detail-oriented and an excellent project manager.

You’ll Manage Retreat Logistics, including:
- Manage and oversee all retreat logistics for approximately 14-16 overnight, weekend learning retreats, including coordinating retreat schedules with the Jewish Education and Immersive Experiences Team.
- Research and secure vendors for lodging, transportation, and event services, for retreats; negotiate price-efficient and risk-free contracts, and resolve issues that may arise with retreat and conference venues, other vendors, and service providers
- Manage all aspects of retreat registration and evaluation, including communicating needs to vendors and processing payments, and addressing all questions and customer service needs related to the event experience
- Oversee the hiring of contractors (Jewish Educators) and manage logistics staff for retreats (create training, help coordinate their travel, etc.)
- Track and budget all retreat expenses
- Order appropriate retreat supplies

You’ll Drive Retreat Recruitment, including:

Own and continually develop strategies for retreat participant recruitment systems and protocols. Manage retreat recruitment goals and execution with members of the Resident Support, MHWOW and Retreats teams.

Partner with the Marketing & Communications team to ensure quality production and delivery of all retreat graphic, social media and advertising assets.

You’ll Communicate & Collaborate, including:

Manage communication with vendors.

Manage communications and collaborate with participants, staff, and contractors.

Facilitate all retreat planning meetings and debriefs.

Collaborate with other members of the wider team on ad hoc projects.

You have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Event Planning, Jewish communal work, Jewish studies, Non-profit management, or an equivalent four years of professional experience in a relevant work capacity.

You have a minimum of 3 additional years of professional post-undergraduate work experience in a relevant capacity.

You have prior facilitation experience – a big plus!

You have Jewish education experience – a big plus!

You bring demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, meticulous attention to detail and record-keeping.

You have demonstrated fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google (Docs, Sheets, Calendars).

You have demonstrated experience in event coordination, vendor relations, and administrative support.

Experience with Salesforce, Monday.com and Slack preferred, along with an excitement for learning new software and technology.

You possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation, and are willing, able, and excited to travel to various retreat sites, with responsibility for arriving early to perform setup, do snacks and supplies runs, and then remain open to driving for other related purposes that may arise during retreat weekends.
The Fine Print:
The Program Specialist, Retreats, is a full-time position reporting to the Director, Immersive Experiences. It requires occasional travel and evening and weekend hours, up to six weekends per year, to complete job requirements.
This position is based in one of our U.S. Hub Offices (Charlotte, NC, Chicago, IL, Encinitas, CA, Washington, D.C., or NYC). Our team works a hybrid schedule at our Hub Offices, where employees can choose to work remotely 2 days per week and collaborate in-person with coworkers the rest of the week.

How Moishe House Pays You:
Moishe House’s starting salary ranges are based on education, experience, location, and skillset required for each role. If you have more experience and/or are targeting a different salary range, let's talk!
- The starting salary range for this full-time exempt position is:
- NYC, Washington D.C., or Encinitas: $66,000 - $71,000
- Chicago: $63,000 - $68,000
- Charlotte, NC: $60,000 - $65,000
- Annual merit-based salary increases
