EDUCATION:
Required: Graduate level theological degree from a college, university or theological school accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Equivalencies for graduate level theological degree will be granted by the individual professional organization according to established guidelines.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education and at least two years as professional clinical chaplain and/or spiritual care educator.
Preferred: Chaplain experience in palliative care would be a plus.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Required: Certified Educator Candidate Status from ACPE -OR- Certification by Association of Professional Chaplains/BCCI, Neshama\: Association of Jewish Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains.

The Sr Chaplain position at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center provides spiritual care to address the psychosocial needs of patients, their families and staff as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Chaplains provide pastoral care to our patients, their families and staff and visit patients at their bedside, receive prayer requests and lead support groups.
The ideal candidate will be a Board Certified Chaplain and have at least two years of clinical chaplain experience. Chaplain experience in palliative care would be a plus.

Essential Functions:
Provides direct spiritual care. Evaluates spiritual needs, interventions, outcomes and devises a plan of care and documents in electronic health records. Provides leadership for chapel service and other support for patients and staff; including sacramental ministry as needed. Participates as clinical spiritual care provider on interdisciplinary teams and initiatives throughout acute care and ambulatory services. Serves as subject matter expert in committees, projects, and research. Participates in department TRB Safety Briefing.
Education and Training Functions:
Participates in activities for educational appointees enrolled in MD Anderson’s Clinical Pastoral Education Program, accredited by ACPE, Inc. The Standard for Spiritual Care and Education. Our CPE Program is aligned with MD Anderson’s Department of Education and Training\: Clinical Health Education Programs.
Works all shifts as per department needs. This position is classified as an essential worker during emergency operations.
