EDUCATION\: Graduate level theological degree from a college, university or theological school accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Equivalencies for graduate level theological degree will be granted by the individual professional organization according to established guidelines.
EXPERIENCE\: Two years as professional chaplain and/or spiritual care educator. Certified Educator Candidate Status from ACPE -OR- Certification by Association of Professional Chaplains/BCCI, Neshama\: Association of Jewish Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains or other COMISS certifying organizations.

The ideal candidate will be Board Certified and have more than 2 years of paid clinical Chaplain experience.
Chaplains at MD Anderson provide pastoral care to our patients, their families and staff. Chaplains visit patients at their bedside, receive prayer requests and lead support groups. The primary purpose of the Sr. Chaplain position is to provide spiritual care to address the psychosocial needs of patients, their families and staff as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
Essential Functions\: Provide for the spiritual and emotional needs of patients, their families, and staff; and participate as mentor with clinical spiritual education programs and activities. Scope impacts the emotional and spiritual needs of patients, their families and staff and the spiritual education programs and activities.
Essential Job Functions evaluates spiritual needs, provides intervention, documents outcomes, and devises a plan of care, and collaborate with clinical team in goals of care discussions. Provides worship leadership, including sacramental ministry as needed. Participates in interdisciplinary initiatives on clinical units. Serves as subject matter expert for institution on spiritual care.
Orients, mentors, assess clinical competencies in partnership and under the supervision of ACPE Certified Educators for Chaplain Fellowship educational appointees enrolled in the ACPE accredited programs. Provides direct spiritual care. Additional Job Functions\: Other duties as assigned.
