About the Position:

Title: Substitute High School Math Teacher

Reports to: Principal

When Needed: February-May, 2023

FTE: Long-term substitute, appx. 10 weeks

Northwest Yeshiva High School is seeking a long-term substitute Math Teacher for February-May of 2023. The Math Teacher will be responsible for teaching one section of each of the following courses: Algebra II, Analysis of Functions, and Calculus I.  The teacher will be given units to cover in each course and will be responsible for developing materials for appropriately covering these units. The teacher will be responsible for differentiating instruction to all students regardless of previous math exposure or learning differences. Class sizes are small and range from 7-15 students.

About Northwest Yeshiva High School:

Northwest Yeshiva High School (NYHS) is a coeducational, accredited Jewish High School, educating teens from a wide geographic area in the Seattle area and a variety of Jewish backgrounds. Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain and help focus the school’s mission, vision and values.
  • Teach 45-60 minute classes to 9th - 12th grade students.
  • Promote and advance the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical well-being of the students during math classes.
  • Implement and adapt curriculum using best practices in mathematics instruction, including differentiation to meet the needs of all students.
  • Coordinate and collaborate regularly with other classroom teachers about curriculum and students.
  • Communicate with parents as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records in Schoology.

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in mathematics, secondary education, or a related discipline.
  • Math teaching experience, preferably at the secondary level
  • Teaching certification preferred

  • Strong organizational and communication abilities
  • Strong judgment & decision making skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all constituent groups - teachers, parents, students, and administrative teams
  • Experience with addressing student behavior
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient at working in a Google Drive environment and confidently learn new technology
  • Ability to work and communicate well with students, families, faculty, and staff within the community
  • All employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19
