Summer Teacher

Position Summary

As a member of our faculty, you will be responsible for the creation of a positive, warm, individualized, nurturing environment for children, which encourages inquiry and open-ended thought. Teachers in our program ensure that children are consistently treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. Teachers also promote, administer, and improve the JCC’s mission statement and goals in functions including program development, compliance with licensing standards, as well as supervision and implementation of the program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the JCC. The summer teacher is responsible for driving a van with children. The summer teacher will be responsible for transporting students to and from various activities and excursions throughout the summer program. A clean driving record is a must, ensuring the safety and well-being of our students at all times.

A good candidate will have:

• Genuine love and respect for children and families
• Willingness to be flexible and be a part of a learning community
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certifications (free training available onsite for hired staff)
• 25 years or older and clean driving record 

An ideal candidate will have all of the above, plus:

• 1-2 years of experience in an Early Childhood Education (ECE) center or similar setting such as nanny experience, camp counselor experience, babysitting
• Strong interpersonal skills within a classroom or school environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of different approaches in ECE and child development

About Our School

Gan Ami Early Childhood Education serves families with children ages 6 weeks through K4 at two unique sites – Whitefish Bay & Mequon. Gan Ami is rated by the State of Wisconsin as a Youngstar 5-star provider and has earned national accreditation from the Association for Early Learning Leaders’ National Accreditation Commission (NAC).

Gan Ami is a program of the Harry & Rose Samson Family JCC, a non-profit social services agency founded upon Jewish ethics and values that is committed to meeting the ever-changing needs of the entire community. Operating out of six facilities throughout Wisconsin, the JCC provides the total community with a forum for open dialogue and offers inclusive wellness, education, and community services for members and guests of all backgrounds.
