We are looking for a passionate Teen Engagement and Jewish Enrichment Manager to join our team in the Connecticut Valley Region (CVR) and make a difference. In this role, you’ll play a key role in the success of our organization by working closely with teens, the community and other BBYO staff to strengthen and grow our movement locally. The Teen Engagement and Jewish Enrichment Manager will have a key focus on elevating chapter operations and programming, and facilitating Jewish educational experiences for teens within the CVR region and across other regions.

We are looking for someone who loves working with teens, has a strong Judaic knowledge and background as well as experience coaching Jewish Content. You’re creative, quick on your feet and like your job to change every day. You’re not the kind of person who wants to sit behind a desk. You have an infectious personality and love getting others to join you in changing the world. You're a problem solver and you're good at juggling multiple priorities at once.

SHAPING THE FUTURE FOR TEENS AND YOURSELF

As a Teen Engagement and Jewish Enrichment Manager, a typical day will include:

  • Inspire and support teens by creating leadership development opportunities and serving as a Jewish role model/experiential educator.
  • Work directly with teen leaders to expand membership, create a vision for J-Lab exhibits and experiences and deepen impact of BBYO throughout the region
  • Work with regional staff and teen leaders to plan and elevate Global Shabbat J-Serve, and other Jewish holiday experiences and Jewish content.  
  • Support and attend a minimum of 4 regional conventions annually
  • Provide support to other BBYO regions to establish a shared vision for Jewish Enrichment at conventions and facilitating on-site programming
  • Grow Chapters:
    • Coach teens on how to run their chapters- including calendars, high quality programs, movement initiatives, and more. 
    • Guide the establishment of short-term and long-term chapter goals around Jewish education and chapter excellence through a Jewish lens.
    • Manage Chapter attendance data, including Chapter event registration forms. 
    • Provide general coaching and mentorship on infusing Jewish content/moments into chapter experiences (ex. social media campaigns, chapter meetings, etc.)  
  • Facilitate effective communication amongst chapters and with parents or other relevant community members
  • Communicate with parents and keep them informed about local and regional events as well as BBYO summer domestic and travel opportunities.
  • Attend summer camp with  Jewish Experience focus (but this time you’re in charge!) as you lead teen leadership programs
  • Serve as a member of the JE faculty at International convention supporting shabbat services/experiences and J-lab on-site

  • Supervisory skills as you manage a team of volunteers and others
  • Professionalism and the ability to inspire and influence others to action

ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR MAKING A LASTING IMPACT

Our team has an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for innovation to drive positive change. Additionally, as Teen Engagement and Jewish Enrichment Manager, these skills are key to success:

  • Experience: 2-5 years of work experience
  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree or higher Management experience preferred
  • Abilities:
    • Strong Judaic knowledge and background, as well as experience coaching Jewish content.
    • Proficient in some variation of Jewish prayer, values, holidays, or rituals.
    • Experience with youth or teens is preferred
    • Experience leading projects is preferred
  • Travel: Ability to travel as needed for regional convention support and to staff a summer leadership program at a location in the U.S. for 2-3 weeks each summer
  • Work Authorization: Unrestricted work authorization to work in the U.S. without holding visa or sponsorship now or in the future
