HOURS: Monday-Friday 2:00pm – 6:00pm

The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) is a non-profit organization that has served the Atlanta community for more than 100 years. The MJCCA annually serves 12,000 members and over 55,000 people in the Atlanta community through a wide variety of innovative programs and vital services. The MJCCA provides scholarships to those in need and services to those with disabilities to ensure that every member of the community has the opportunity to benefit from our programs. Job Summary:

Club J is the MJCCA’s after-school program for grades preK-5. The program has about 140 kids annually. The ideal candidate will need to be creative, assist with daily homework assignments covering all elementary age subjects, facilitate a variety of activities including but not limited to arts and crafts, gym sports, cooking, drama, dance, and other playful child activities.

All positions require energy, attention to detail, creativity, professionalism and willingness to work with a group of people towards the common goal of creating an outstanding after-school program. The safety of the children is the number one priority. Counselors must be able to keep their group safe at all times and provide a fun, nurturing setting.

Responsibilities & Duties

· Meet physical, social and emotional needs of the children assigned to your group

· Direct supervision of the children in your group

· Able to positively manage the group

· Able to lead activities; including, homework, arts and crafts, sports, cooking, computers, team-building exercises, drama, dance and others

· Flexible and able to adapt to different activity changes with short notice

· Follow instructions and curriculum of the Club J program

· Responsible for check in/out procedure of child participants

· Adhere to Club J and MJCCA policies and procedures

· Keep track of where every child in the group is at all times throughout the day

· Able to help multiple children with their homework while keeping the room quiet and organized

· Able to work without direct supervision

· Reliable/excellent attendance

· Have a license and clean driving record (driver requirement)

Experience:

· Prior experience working with children ages 5 – 12 preferred

· Certified in CPR/First Aid; preferred

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move from standing to crouching to sitting on the floor and back to standing. The employee must be able to lift children with a minimum of 50 lbs.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: From $15.00 per hour
