The Role: 6 Points Sports Academy Counselors have three simultaneous roles: Counselor, Coach, and Educator.
- Directly responsible for all campers living in the dorms, a counselor has day-to-day involvement with each camper as an individual and with the entire group. He or she must see that every individual camper makes friends, becomes acclimated to life at camp, grows towards his or her potential and becomes a part of the total camp community. It is the counselor's job to act as the "early warning system" for campers with problems that may have to be referred to other staff. Counselors live in the dorms with the campers, present at all times.
- Coaches are responsible for improving the athletic skills and abilities of their campers. They are relied upon by the Head Coaches to help implement coaching plans. Sports majors are opportunities for coaches to use their personal experiences to teach, challenge and empower campers.
- You will also coach and run electives, recreational activities designed for campers to have fun. If you have a special talent, skill, or unique sport/activity that you would like to lead, please let us know! We are always expanding our elective offerings at camp.
- Educators assist the Director of Jewish life and Faculty to create memorable Jewish experiences for their campers. Educators participate in and help their campers participate in T’Filah. Educators help create and run developed programs that connect campers to the Jewish values lived at camp. Whether in the dorms, on the field, in the dining hall, or in transition, educators take advantage of opportunities to demonstrate Jewish values and teach the meaning of Jewish values to campers. Educators work with the Director of Jewish Life to bind both deliberate and opportunistic educational experiences to create an organic Jewish curriculum.

Some information about 6 Points Sports Academy:
6 Points Sports Academy is located in beautiful Asheville, NC on the state-of-the-art athletic and camp facilities of Asheville School – which is widely regarded as the most beautiful boarding overnight camp facilities in the Southern part of the United States.
We are so proud of our growth – we opened in 2010 with 60 campers, and now, every summer we welcomed over 850 campers to our facility to assist them in reaching their goals of becoming better athletes, Jews, and humans. At 6 Points, athletes from 35 different states and 7 different countries participate in a unique camping experience that offers top-level sports coaching and all the beloved traditions of overnight camping. Within our kind and nurturing community, campers form friendships for life while feeding their passion for their chosen sport - and achieve a higher quality of life as young Jewish athletes.
6 Points campers are entering 4th - 11th grade girls and boys who are looking to improve their skill level, meet new friends and explore their own Jewish identity (coaches do not need to be Jewish to work at camp). During each day of our two-week long session, campers participate in 4 hours of intensive skill development in one chosen sport (their sports major) and 2 hours of electives.
Our coaching staff is comprised of enthusiastic and competent professionals who are deeply committed to their sport and to the athletes that they coach.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
