BBYO is the leading pluralistic, Jewish teen movement and has been providing exceptional leadership programs and identity enrichment experiences for over 100 years. We offer year-round activities in hundreds of local communities and inspiring world-wide travel experiences enabling teens to explore areas of leadership, service, civic engagement, Israel education and Jewish values.  


Position Summary 


The City Director is a part-time position. This position will span over 10 months, from September 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 and will be responsible for 10-15 hours of work each week. Hourly compensation will be determined by experience, between $16-$19 an hour. We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with teens, is creative, results-driven, and able to deal effectively with youth and parents in sometimes difficult situations.  


Locations


We are hiring 2 City Directors to support Liberty region. One city director will primarily support chapters in the Allentown / Harrisburg, PA area. The other city director will primarily support chapters in the Wilmington, DE / Westchester, PA area. Applicants should be able to transport themselves around their respective community.


 


City Director Responsibilities include:



  • Inspire and support teens by creating leadership development opportunities and serving as a Jewish role model/experiential educator.

  • Work directly with teens (grades 8-12) to create impactful, fun, and dynamic programming. 

  • Coach teens on how to run their chapters- including calendars, high quality programs, movement initiatives, and more. 

  • Work with teens to attract and retain members to build and grow chapters. 

  • Manage Chapter attendance data, including Chapter event registration forms. 

  • Collaborate with colleagues to bring new, innovative, and fun ideas to the community.  

  • Facilitate effective communication amongst chapters and with parents or other relevant community members. 

  • Recruit, supervise, train, and develop volunteer advisors for the chapters in area they are working with.

  • Oversee all aspects of the local programs and work with the chapter boards, advisors, parents, and other community stakeholders.

  • Assist local chapters in implementing movement wide initiatives. 

  • Attend community gatherings to promote BBYO and recruit new teens

  • Coordinate chapter events where the local chapters work together to plan and implement a program.

  • Help coordinate transportation for teens to and from regional events, ride bus as needed.

  • Communicate with parents and keep them informed about local and regional events as well as BBYO summer domestic and travel opportunities.

  • Support building a pipeline of middle school students that are ready to join BBYO in 8th 

  • Serve as a staff member at most Regional Weekend conventions.

  • Promote BBYO in and around the community. 


Qualifications & Requirements 


The ideal candidate will take an entrepreneurial approach to community organizing with demonstrated success in mobilizing others and inspiring people to take action. 



  • Must be at least 3 years removed from High School

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

  • Previous experience working with kids or teens

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Team-oriented, organized, and self-motivated work style

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without holding a visa or sponsorship.
