Who We Are:

The New Orleans JCC is a state-of-the-art fitness center and pool, a leader in New Orleans early childhood education, a fun-filled summer day camp and so much more. It is a place for adults to take an exercise, art, or dance class. A place for children and teens to experience learning through enrichment classes, sports leagues, family activities, and summer camps. The JCC is built on Jewish values but is welcome to everyone.

The mission of the Greater New Orleans Jewish Community Center is to promote and ensure the well-being of our Jewish community and to instill an understanding of Judaism and its heritage by providing a Center where all can enjoy, learn, experience, and share quality activities in a Jewish environment.

The Night Custodian is in charge of maintaining the facility's cleanliness and upkeep, which includes programs for seniors, kids, fitness, and swimming. Essential responsibilities include vacuuming, mopping, washing windows, and helping with furniture removal in addition to tidying bathrooms, corridors, and specific areas. Applicants should be receptive to receiving customized training catered to the requirements of our workplace and have a basic understanding of cleaning. Their purpose is essential to provide individuals with a pleasant and hospitable atmosphere.

What You'll Do:

  • Must maintain and clean the facility's common areas, restrooms, offices, program spaces, and general building grounds.
  • Be responsible for disposing of waste, recycling, and other materials according to the relevant policies.
  • Make sure that the building's offices, locker rooms, gyms, and classrooms are all vacuumed.
  • Ensure that the fixtures in the bathroom are cleaned.
  • Be responsible for mopping and sweeping the floors in the classrooms, offices, locker rooms, hallways, and other public spaces as well as cleaning glass doors and windows.
  • Provide paper products and other essentials for restrooms.
  • Assist with the moving of bulky items like furniture and equipment for events, performances, and other uses.
  • Employees providing custodial services must participate in in-service training as a condition of their employment.
  • Be responsible for making use of cleaning supplies and other items to provide a sanitary and pleasant space.
  • Have the willingness to work on some national holidays and Jewish holidays specific to the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll bring:

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Previous Custodian experience is highly preferred. 
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills.

Work Schedule:
Tuesday-Saturday
3 pm-Midnight
Weekly schedule is subject to change depending on the needs of the organization.
