The Westchester Community Development Associate is responsible for advancing the UJA campaign, increasing the donor base and strengthening communities. They are responsible for community and regional initiatives and working with committees and additional assignments as required.  

Major Responsibilities: 

Fundraising and donor development 

  •  Implement appropriate fundraising strategies to increase the donor base and dollars raised for the annual campaign.
  • Learn and employ a variety of fundraising techniques including face-to-face solicitations, fundraising events, door openers, phone, written and social media communications. 
  • Educate donors and prospects about the mission of UJA-Federation through educational programs, hands-on projects, agency visits, and missions. 
  • Support and educate lay leaders on the work of UJA-Federation of New York so they can serve as ambassadors for UJA-Federation. 
  • Learn to utilize the UJA fundraising system and the various reports and other tools to accomplish the fundraising goals. 

 Donor Cultivation 

  • Identify viable prospects through outreach and engagement strategies and relationship-building. 
  • Maintain records of donor portfolio through our fundraising system and evaluate progress regularly with supervisor. 

 Events 

  • Help organize events and site visits to agencies, volunteer activities, and missions as appropriate. 
  • Provide support as needed at regional events and programs, including fundraising, journal preparation, and working with event managers and marketing. 
  • Develop and implement a plan for post-event follow-up, including calling and meeting with donors. 

 Collaborations 

  • Participate in staff meetings and collaborate with Westchester colleagues. 
  • Work in collaboration with professionals in other divisions, affinities, and regions as appropriate. 

 Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Two-plus years of post-college knowledge and previous experience in fundraising and/or related areas including personal solicitations preferred. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, relationship-building skills, writing skills and customer service orientation. 
  • Knowledge of issues facing the Jewish community and passion for UJA-Federation’s mission. 
  • Team player with the ability to multitask. 
  • Strong communication skills  
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter 

Salary Information:

The salary range for this role is $63,000 to $65,000; commensurate with experience and qualifications listed above.
