About the Opportunity


The Integrated Development team is looking to hire a dynamic Director, Community Mobilization (Countering Antisemitism and Hate) to engage the community and grassroots organizations in a concerted and strategic plan to battle against antisemitism and hate against our Jewish community. This new strategy will include the need to;


 



  • Drive awareness and understanding of UJA’s community activism tools & resources with community members, grassroots-facing organizations, allies, and UJA staff

  • Develop activists through a curated list of engagement opportunities and programs

  • Coordinate internal UJA functions with external key stakeholders (CIJA, CJPAC, Hillel, etc.) on activism issues.

  • Establish and manage a central intake and deployment function for stakeholders engaged in antisemitism activism.


 


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Partner with the Vice President, Community Mobilization to develop the vision and strategic plan to make community mobilization a core strategy in countering antisemitism and hate.

  • Work in concert with the broader Community Mobilization team to look for joint strategies best engage and grow volunteerism within the broader Toronto Jewish community

  • Own the operational elements of the Community Mobilization (Countering Antisemitism and Hate) team (manage budget, key metric tracking, progress reporting, grass roots reach out, hiring, etc).

  • Lead the planning, resourcing and execution of all activist engagement opportunities and programs.

  • Build a scalable volunteer training program to build both key activists for today, and future activism leaders of tomorrow.

  • Own relationships with key teams within UJA to determine and help develop programs and strategies to mobilize against key organizational priorities (CAH, Communication, THM, etc.).

  • Manage both the ongoing pipeline and communications with activists

  • Provide support, resources and strategic guidance to activists in support of the larger Countering Hate and Antisemitism objectives.




Qualifications:



  • Relevant Education or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years in community based roles.

  • Political experience highly recommended

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a busy environment

  • Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and associated functions

  • Willingness and ability to learn additional applications and platforms as needed

  • Knowledge of Salesforce an asset

  • Proactive with excellent organizational, prioritizing and time-management skills

  • A self-starter able to leverage his/her knowledge, skills and experience to manage complex change from start to finish

  • Ability to manage complex projects and budgets, working collaboratively with staff as well as with multiple stakeholders to deliver results

  • An ability to think strategically and critically

  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail

  • Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality


 


This is a full-time permanent position. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work.
