Position Summary

The mission of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County is to strengthen Jewish identity, energize the relationship with Israel, and meet human needs that are uniquely the obligation of the Jewish community. Jewish Engagement is a key priority for the Jewish Federation. It is the role of the Jewish Federation to empower and support the community, giving individuals and families the tools that they need to live more vibrant and meaningful Jewish lives. The Outreach Family Engagement Officer will focus on strengthening the connection of un/under-engaged Jewish households in Palm Beach to Jewish life and community. This multifaceted role involves providing concierge services, welcoming newcomers, and supporting families through various life transitions via the Shalom Palm Beach program. Additionally, the Officer will maintain a comprehensive Jewish community calendar for families, highlighting weekly events and opportunities to get involved with community partners. By offering these services and resources, the Officer aims to create meaningful pathways for Jewish households to engage with their heritage and local Jewish community. 


Shalom Palm Beach is a comprehensive initiative designed to guide individuals and families who are new to the Greater Palm Beaches area. It helps newcomers make connections, build friendships, and engage in the vibrant Jewish life of the community. The program covers a wide geographic area, from Palm Beach West to Wellington, South to Boynton Beach, and North to Stuart. Shalom Palm Beach offers personalized welcomes, gift bags, and facilitates connections based on individual interests, whether it's adult learning, volunteering, meeting young professionals, or finding information on Jewish education options. 

The Outreach Family Engagement Officer will work closely with the Community Engagement department and community partners to develop and implement programs, identify resources, and employ ongoing engagement strategies. This role requires a creative and proactive approach to family engagement, with a focus on building strong relationships within the Jewish community and exploring innovative ways to connect with un/under-engaged households. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with devising an outreach strategy for Family Engagement and Shalom Palm Beach. 
  • Engage, collaborate, and coordinate with the Community Engagement department drawing on their extensive knowledge and resources.  
  • Collaborate with community partners to develop and implement programs, identify resources to provide to attendees, and employ ongoing engagement strategies. 
  • Foster relationships with community partners to provide warm handoffs and concierge services. 
  • Assist with defining operational initiatives to achieve the goal of engaging and supporting Jewish households in Palm Beach that are currently un/under-engaged. 
  • Gather data to track the progress of engagement initiatives and report on progress and challenges to the team. 
  • Establish relationships with lay leaders and families in our community and learn from their wants, needs, and experiences, including in-person engagement opportunities.  
  • Create and recommend guidelines, templates, and procedures to provide a framework for a successful outreach strategy for Family Engagement and Shalom Palm Beach. 
  • Collaborate with other members of the Family Engagement Team as we roll out the new strategic vision for family engagement. 
  • Collaborate with other Federation professionals who interact with the same population. 
  • Represent Federation at community outreach events. 
  • Other projects as deemed appropriate.

  • Serve as a welcoming face and represent the Family Engagement department and the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County in a welcoming and professional manner at all times.

  • Active contributor to team goals and initiatives. 
  • Identifies best practices and fresh ideas for Shalom Palm Beach. 
  • Works off-shift hours, including nights or weekends, as requested. 

Work Environment: 

The position is eligible to work from home occasionally in accordance with Federation policies. When working from home, the employee must: 

  • Follow all Federation policies and procedures. 
  • Be available to other employees during the Federation’s normal business hours. 
  • Not work from a public place (e.g., coffee shop, library, etc.) and/or join a public, unsecured Wi-Fi network when working with sensitive or confidential information. 
  • Coordinate with the ITS department to maintain appropriate computer equipment and connectivity.

Pay Rate: 

In addition to benefits, the annual salary for this role ranges between $50,000 and $60,000. We benchmark our salary ranges for new hires in relation to the role, level, and role location; however, we consider a multitude of factors, to include relevant experience, skills, and education/training, to determine compensation within the identified range.
