Help others to be active and achieve their fitness goals at the Stroum Jewish Community Center. We're looking for talented and passionate Group Exercise Instructors who are enthusiastic about teaching different modalities to various age groups and skill levels.
As a Group Exercise Instructor, you are responsible for creating an inviting, engaging exercise class experience.
Some of the duties and responsibilities of a Group Exercise Instructor are to:
- Teach a variety of classes incorporating aerobics, strength training, balance and flexibility in each class.
- Teach scheduled classes, beginning, and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching and cool down.
- Instruct patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates, exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
- Prepare appropriate equipment and music (if applicable) for each class.
- Ensure that safety standards are met
- Work a variety of shifts.
- Substitute for coworkers as needed.
- Support the emotional and social wellbeing of participants through positive behavior management and supportive interactions.
- Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC.
- Attend required staff training and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To be successful as a Group Exercise Instructor, you should have:
- Ability to lead a group in the modality hired for.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of relevant safety practices.
- Ability to coach and empower students.
- Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with colleagues and SJCC guests.
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team setting.
- Ability to exercise good judgment.

- Washington Paid Sick Leave (Part-time, on call, seasonal employees)
- Washington State Pay Range: $45.00/hour to $50.00/hour
- Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including but not limited to, skills, relevant experience, and specific work location.
