The Gymnastics Team Director is responsible for coaching gymnasts, supervising the competitive team, and assisting in the planning and organization of the JCC Gymnastics program as outlined below. This is an exempt, full-time, benefit-level position. Evening and weekend hours are required. The Jewish Community Center is an equal opportunity employer (EOE).


General Duties:

• Direct and lead the gymnastics competitive team. This includes the planning, implementation, day-to-day tasks, and ongoing evaluation of the program.

• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise team coaches. Train staff to work appropriately with children and provide a fun, safe and positive environment. Create and implement a thorough team curriculum for skills, drills, and lesson plans.

• Assist with managing all aspects of the gymnastics program as needed (Preschool to Adult). This includes classes, break programs, summer camp, late nights, and special events. Coach a portion of these programs, adhering to our gymnastics instructor guidelines and sub as needed.

• Create, implement, and enforce all team policies for staff, parents, and gymnasts.

• Collaborate effectively with parents and staff to develop and maintain parents' confidence in the staff and program.


Administrative Duties:

• Determine the team calendar, practice times, rotation schedules, and gymnast groupings/levels.

• Be the primary point of team communication using email, social media, phone calls, and meetings.

• Communicate regularly with team-level heads and parent volunteers.

• Set up and manage team registration including tuition forms and apparel orders.

• Manage all aspects of meet registrations including gymnast fees, meet entries, and level/roster changes.

• Plan and direct any competitive or exhibition meets that the JCC hosts.

• Help with office administration as needed, including answering phones and taking payments.

• Learn and be able to use the software system for checking rosters and understanding member status.

• Aid in the development of the team budget and work diligently to meet budget requirements.

• Recruit gymnastics team participants through marketing, outreach and developing relationships with gymnastics families in our recreation and camp program.

• Retain gymnastics team participants through surveys, participant interaction, newsletters, and staff/parent feedback.

• Work closely and in partnership with the Gymnastics management staff.

• Create and manage the team budget.


Other Role Expectations:

• Oversee the following: Team Banquet, Team Photos, Team Late Night/Overnight, and Big Little Sister Program.

• Preserve the safety and cleanliness of the gymnastics area and submit maintenance and housekeeping requests when needed.

• Participate in training sessions and attend mandatory Gymnastics and All Staff JCC meetings as scheduled.

• Assist in developing new program ideas designed to promote and grow participation.

• Provide excellent customer service and help to create and maintain a welcoming and professional environment.

• Support and fully participate in the culture of the organization. Be available for special assignments including assisting other departments with JCC events.

• Regular, predictable attendance is required.

• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

• Innovative, imaginative, energetic, and a positive role model and strive to provide the best possible programs for participants.


ESSENTIAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

• College degree preferred.

• Strong background in gymnastics.

• Coaching and managerial experience in gymnastics.

• Experience working with preschool children through teenagers.

• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Able to spot gymnasts safely and confidently.

• Must be flexible with work schedule including working nights and weekends, especially Sunday.

• A basic understanding of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Access.

• Current American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates or ability to obtain certification.

• Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
