Hospice - Health Information Specialist

JSSA has an immediate opening for a Medical Records Specialist to support the compliance function for our Hospice program.  In this role you will ensure that required documents are sent, verified, documented, retrieved and logged into and from the Electronic Medical Records (EMR). 

Responsibilities:

  • Process, coordinate and validate the release of any PHI containing private, clinical, and other sensitive information. 
  • Communicate with clients and other essential contacts to obtain proper authorizations for sensitive and confidential release of information.
  • Complete data entry on projects as needed, as well as respond to incoming calls to the program (in concert with others).
  • Support the schedulers and program assistants with phone coverage for both hospice and homecare.  

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be flexible, solution-oriented, able to respond professionally in difficult situations and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Two years of experience working with electronic medical records, including scanning and indexing medical records into an electronic EMR system.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly, both orally and in writing.
  • Must possess knowledge of health care terminology.
  • Must have a advanced working knowledge of databases and MS Office 365.     
  • Must have a strong background in confidentiality rules and regulations relating to HIPAA.
  • Great attention to detail and quality with outstanding time management and organizational skills.
