The Cook reports directly to the Head Chef and is responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking and overall cleanliness of the kitchen. This position is classified as Non-Exempt and comes with a benefits package. The Jewish Community Center is an EOE (equal opportunity employer).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assists Head Chef with preparing, cooking, serving, labeling, storing food.
· Dishwashing as needed and overall cleanliness of the kitchen.
· Adheres to standard operating procedures for food quality and food handling.
· Keeps Registered Food Manager’s certificate current.
· Staff’s kitchen during Passover and various events when needed
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Chef.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
· High School degree
· Food/restaurant/kitchen experience – 3 years min.
· Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry items while walking.
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
· Demonstrates an energetic and positive attitude.
· Reliable, dependable, team player.
· Professional in appearance, manner, and tone
· Able and willing to take direction
It is expected that the Cook will be a team player as part of the JCC Professional Staff. He/she is expected to be aware of the JCC Mission Statement and work within the frameworks of that mission. Responsibilities of the job may be changed as the needs of the JCC and/or community change.
