  • Prepare and maintain a Montessori-prepared environment that meets the developmental needs of infants.
  • Foster an atmosphere of calm, patience, and respect while promoting independence and self-discovery.
  • Observe each child’s development closely, taking notes and planning individualized activities (or lessons for older infants/young toddlers) that align with their needs.
  • Collaborate with other caregivers on the infant teaching team, as well as other teachers and staff, to support the overall infant program and ensure the safety and well-being of the children.
  • Engage and communicate with parents, providing updates on their child’s development and creating strong partnerships with families.
  • Ensure all health and safety guidelines are followed, including diaper changes, feeding schedules, and general classroom hygiene.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with Montessori best practices and early childhood education research.
Qualifications:
  • Montessori Infant/Toddler Certification from an accredited Montessori training center (AMI/AMS or other recognized institution).
  • Experience working with infants in a Montessori or early childhood education setting.
  • Knowledge of child development principles, particularly for infants and toddlers.
  • Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy and the ability to implement it in an infant environment.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Must be able to sit on the floor for at least 15 minutes at a time, and to get up and down from the floor easily.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
  • Knowledge of Judaism, or willingness to learn about Jewish customs and holidays, in order to incorporate into the environment through singing and storytelling.
Key Personality Traits and Skills:
  • Nurturing and Patient: A natural ability to create a warm, loving, and caring environment that makes infants feel safe and secure.
  • Calm and Observant: Ability to observe children's behavior and developmental progress without unnecessary intervention.
  • Detail-Oriented: Excellent attention to detail, especially regarding the infants' needs, hygiene, and safety.
  • Collaborative: A strong team player who is willing to work with fellow teachers and administration to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Flexible and Adaptable: Able to adjust plans and approaches based on the needs of the children and the classroom dynamics.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Able to effectively communicate with parents, colleagues, and infants.
  • Creative: Ability to come up with engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that support growth and exploration.
  • Passionate about Early Childhood Education: A deep love for working with infants and helping them develop emotionally, physically, and cognitively.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Professional development and opportunities for further Montessori training.
  • Supportive and collaborative work environment.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Health benefits available.
