Description

Under general supervision, this professional employee position ensures the safety of patrons at The J's aquatic facilities by preventing and responding to emergencies. The position of lifeguard requires excellent interpersonal skills and a high standard of customer service. The position is part time. All shifts available. The pool is open from 5 a.m. - 9 p.m. This position is active year round.


Schedule

Two shifts needed M-F, part time hours between 5am and 9am or 9am and 6pm

*occasional weekends available, especially during summers


Benefits

  • $15/hr to start, returning guards rates increase yearly, *5am opener shifts may start higher

Responsibilities

  • Follows and enforces all rules throughout the Aquatics Facilities
  • Maintains constant surveillance of Members in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of Members in the event of emergency
  • Completes the appropriate daily paperwork during the shift
  • Performs various maintenance and cleaning duties
  • Swim 1000 yards each week
  • Attend the one mandatory in-service training scheduled for each month during the fall/winter and two mandatory in-service trainings scheduled for each month during the summer
  • Performs additional job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Lifeguard Training
  • First Aid
  • CPR & AED Pro 
  • Must be at least 15 years of age
  • Pass Lifeguard pre-employment practical skills test in the water and demonstrate ability at periodic in-service training sessions

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Able to complete the LG pre-course skills: 300 swim, 20 yrd brick test, 2 minutes of treading
  • Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time
