The Leffell School is a cutting-edge K-12 Jewish independent school serving 850 students on two campuses in Westchester County, NY, 30 minutes north of New York City.
We are seeking a Middle School Science Leave Replacement Teacher for March 2025 to the end of the school year who will inspire students and get them excited about science.
Applicants should be creative, thoughtful, and reflective educators who strive to create a supportive classroom environment. The ideal candidate has experience teaching science at the middle school level, in particular life and earth science, and can deliver dynamic and interactive lessons related to content and skills.
Responsibilities include the following:
Teach three sections of Sixth-Grade Science and two sections of Seventh-Grade Science (approximately 75 students)
Collaborate with science department colleagues on the creation and execution of the science curriculum
Engage students in scientific discovery through hands-on, inquiry-based experiments
Participate in weekly meetings (e.g department, grade-level)
Timely grading and record keeping
Communication with parents, as needed
Fulfill various supervisory duties and faculty responsibilities
Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in Education or a science-related field and preferably a Masters Degree.
Pay Range: $200/day
