The People and Culture Business Partner aligns business objectives with employees and management in designated division(s). The role acts a change agent, employee champion, and consultant to management on employee issues. This role will also collaborate and contribute ideas on complex HR projects involving employee relations, learning management, performance management, and talent acquisition. The Business Partner also develops integrated solutions in partnership with internal team members as well as other key stakeholders within the assigned department. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Act as a strategic partner to senior leaders and managers, providing advice and guidance on people-related issues.  
  2. Collaborate with leaders to develop and implement HR strategies, programs and initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
  3. Partner with leaders to identify and address employee engagement and performance issues.
  4. Manage employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and grievances.
  5. Support the recruitment and selection process, including job postings, candidate screening, and interviews.
  6. Develop and deliver training programs to build HR capability across the organization. 
  7. Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements. 
  8. Contribute to the development and implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives. 
  9. Directly supervise People and Culture Associate.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources
  • 3-5 years’ experience in HR-related work. 
  • Strong HR generalist background 
  • Experience working with educational programs a plus
  • Proficiency in HRIS and ATS systems (ADP preferred)

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders. 
  • Empathy and sensitivity to employees' needs and concerns. 
  • Ability to deliver presentations and facilitate meetings. 
  • Experience in managing and resolving employee relations issues. 
  • Understanding of current trends and best practices in HR and employee engagement.  
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations, including employment standards, equal opportunity and workplace safety.
  • Experience in employee recruitment, selection, and onboarding. 
  • Knowledge of compensation and benefits administration.
  • Ability to handle employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management. 
  • Proficiency in HR software and systems. 
  • Excellent understanding of talent management principles, including recruitment, onboarding, training and development.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle complex and sensitive HR matters.
