The Role: Provide prevention education and intervention services to elementary, middle and high school children and their parents to prevent onset of alcohol and substance use.  Engage community in array of prevention and wellness services within Center for Recovery and Wellness

SCOPE OF INFLUENCE

  • Local public schools and community organizations which provide services to children age 5 to 17 years old
  • Community/resident associations, resident/tenant councils, community centers, other community-based organizations which unite and serve community residents

 

Responsibilities:

Program Support

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate prevention and wellness activities, including trainings, workshops, and presentations. 
  • Provide direct prevention education and intervention services to elementary, middle and high school children and parents.
  • Engage and provide technical assistance and training to professionals of educational institutions and community members 
  • Gather information and analyze data for the purpose of evaluating and adjusting of delivered material
  • Select various educational and informational materials.
  • Travel to multiple sites to provide services to students, teachers, and community members and partners.
  • Provide prevention and wellness information at community health fairs and booths
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Copy and prepare written materials, supplies, etc. for each program session
  • Maintain accurate, complete records of workshops/presentations, including sign-in sheets and completed participant pre/post evaluations.


Administrative Support

 

  • Assist Program Director in gathering information required for grant proposals, renewals, narratives and reports.
  • Provide administrative assistance, including answering phones, scanning, filing, faxing, copying for direct supervisor
  • Build working productive interdepartmental relationships across the Agency and in the community to ensure successful planning and execution of required duties.

 

Other

  • Understand professional and reporting requirements.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Work or Human Services or related field is required
  • Experience in dealing with culturally diverse groups strongly preferred 
  • Ability to maintain high ethical standards 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities and projects effectively
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional, courteous and friendly manner
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies and community building
  • Self-motivated, strong attention to details, and highly analytical
  • Ability to work autonomously 
  • Strong information technology skills and well- versed in Microsoft office products
  • Ability to work a flexible working schedule as needed
