Job Duties Include, but are not limited to:

  • Under the direction of a licensed physician, directs and leads the care of Residents using specialized nursing skills related to long term care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to Federal/State life safety codes, the Florida Nurse Practice Act, Standards of Practice for Long Term Care Nursing as well as legal, regulatory requirements.
  • Reviews and updates care plan, physician orders, MAR/Pharmacy profile and other records to ensure resident needs are met.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and report the needs of the Residents appropriately.
  • Coordinates, in cooperation with the nursing and facility leadership, ancillary health care and health education services for Residents.
  • Identifies Resident problems, concerns, or issues and provide appropriate follow-up to ensure resolution.
  • Supervises direct care staff and monitor effective service delivery during assigned shift.
  • Reviews Resident treatment and medication records to assure quality of care.
  • Participates in the evaluation of CNAs.
  • Completes required documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Acts in compliance with regulatory and professional; standards and guidelines.
  • Performs routine nursing services for residents as directed.
  • Adheres to facility policies and procedures and participates in facility quality improvement and safety programs.
  • Oversees Falls Program and Pressure Sore Program for those resident on their team.
  • Completes “point of service” documentation within the electronic medical record database.
  • Demonstrates and supervises nursing assistants with adherence to strict standards of Infection Control and Prevention.

 

Resident Rights:

  • Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
  • Treats all residents fairly, and with kindness, dignity and respect.
  • Ensures that all nursing care is provided in privacy.
  • Knocks before entering the resident’s room.

Qualifications

Educational/Professional Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
  • Supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.
  • Willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
  • Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.

 

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the colleague must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 35 pounds independently and utilize proper techniques/tools/assistance to lift greater weights, including the human body.  Ability to turn, reposition and assist patients to transfer and ambulate. If necessary, must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

 

All candidates must be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug screening and a level 2 background check.
