Position Summary:
The mission of the Network Department is to foster thriving institutions positioned to serve today’s catchment and tomorrow’s emerging needs by prioritizing best practices that support programmatic and operational excellence. Talent Development is a critical element of operational excellence as it aims to cultivate and strengthen professional leadership for Jewish nonprofits through powerful and dynamic learning, valuable resources, and a supportive network. Our TD work envisions a vibrant Jewish community, enhanced by Jewish communal organizations and their adaptive and forward-thinking professionals. We understand that the Jewish community is only as strong as its institutions and the professionals that guide them.
UJA’s Talent Development work focuses on organizational strengthening through investment in individual senior leaders, cohort learning that supports professional growth, and trainings that advance staff capacity in critical content areas and operational skillsets.
The Program Manager is responsible for managing one of UJA’s flagship programs, the Ruskay Institute for Jewish Professional Leadership, which cultivates professionals’ ability to imagine the Jewish future and impact the Jewish community by deepening understanding, sharpening vision, and developing key strategies and tools. Participants are rising leaders with typically four to nine years of professional experience with a record of excellence and capacity for growth. The Program Manager is responsible for oversight of the entire institute- including content, relationships, program redesign, faculty, recruitment, facilitation of learning, the development and nurturing of the alumni network. The Program Manager will follow best practices in leadership development to ensure that the Ruskay Institute is best in class.
Beyond the role related to the Ruskay Institute, the program manager will be an integral member of the Network Department team. We are uniquely situated to help individuals, New York based Jewish nonprofits, and the broader Jewish nonprofit field. Together, we are working to address the challenges to recruit, retain, and develop top-quality professionals for the Jewish nonprofit sector. Additionally, we seek to provide guidance to professionals in the Jewish nonprofit sector as they navigate careers in the Jewish community; and advise HR directors in their search for quality staff.
