The Behrend-Adas Senior Fellowship is a daily lunch and socialization program of JSSA in partnership with Adas Israel open to the community that provides a hot kosher lunch as well as a variety of social, exercise, and educational programming for senior adults.

This is a part time position working 20 hours per week Monday – Friday with one day from home. The work schedule will require being onsite 4 days a week, at the Adas Israel Congregation, from 10am-2pm. The fifth day is spent off site arranging the future programming activities for the senior adults. The ideal candidate will have social service experience, be a self-starter, organized, and a good communicator. Leadership experience preferred. The Program Coordinator will ensure that program participants have a safe, socially enjoyable and educationally fulfilling experience.

Overall responsibilities:

  • Create monthly calendar of daily activities
  • Order lunches from Berman Hebrew Academy
  • Purchase snack and supplies
  • Manage the coordination of daily activities and classes for senior participants
  • Organize transportation for offsite holiday programs or local trips for cultural programs
  • In collaboration with the program supervisor, help maintain all requirements of the Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL) grant
  • Keep accurate records for DACL including intake forms, program attendance, nutritional information and activity tracking
  • Produce reports regarding programming and lunch components for DACL
  • Coordinate rabbis and educators to help with Jewish holiday programs
  • Recruit and train volunteers for the program
  • Recruit new participants through various marketing channels
  • Manage program budget in collaboration with program supervisor
  • Complete and submit paperwork to assure prompt payment for vendors and accurate accounting
  • Maintain up-to-date CPR certification and SafeServe certificate
  • Maintain relationships with Adas Israel staff to ensure continued collaboration on the program

 Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field
  • 1-3 years in a similar position
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills; detail-oriented; and organized
  • Experience with an electronic health record system
  • Advanced level knowledge with MS Office (in particular, Outlook, Excel and Word), and aptitude to master other computer programs and reporting systems easily
  • Commitment to working in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on collaboration with colleagues and clients
