JOB TITLE: Team Coach - Gymnastics 

DEPARTMENT: Sports and Camps

REPORTS TO: Gymnastics Manager

JOB SUMMARY: Coaches compulsory and/or optional team gymnasts

The Perimeter Gymnastics program was started at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) over 20 years ago and is one of the leading and largest gyms in the Dunwoody/Sandy Springs area. Join us in our state-of-the-art, 7,000 square foot Besser Gymnastics Pavilion featuring a spring floor, multiple gymnastics pits, five beams, three bars, a vault and regulation-length runway. Our gymnastics program is comprised of preschool, recreational and competitive team programs (USAG and Xcel) so we are able to welcome all levels of gymnasts. 

The MJCCA is a non-profit organization that has served the Atlanta community for more than 100 years. Serving 12,000 members and over 55,000 people in the Atlanta community through a wide variety of innovative programs and vital services. The MJCCA was ranked among the Top Workplaces for twelve consecutive years by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and is widely regarded as one of the premiere JCCs in the country. 

DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for providing gymnastics instruction for USAG and Xcel competitive gymnasts. Must have gymnastics team coaching experience and utilize a positive coaching style. Knowledge of safe spotting techniques and appropriate skill progressions are essential.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

● Experience coaching competitive gymnastics through Level 6

● Communicate with athletes in a positive and encouraging manner

● Create and implement team practice lesson plans 

● Interact professionally with participants, parents, and supervisors

● Collaborate as part of the gymnastics coaching team

● Availability on weekends to coach athletes in competitions

● Dependable and responsible

● Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment 

● Follow all MJCCA emergency and safety procedures

● Complete incident and injury reports as necessary

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is physically demanding and involves lifting, holding, carrying, pushing and pulling of objects up to 50 pounds. Candidates must be able to stand for extended periods of time, demonstrate body positions, and bend over to assist students with performing gymnastics skills. Setting up equipment and spotting participants through skills on all apparatus is required.

Certifications:

● USA Gymnastics Safety Certification (or willing to obtain within 3 months)

● CPR Certification (or willing to obtain within 3 months)

JOB TYPE: Part-time: 16-30 hours per week. Includes nights and weekends.

PAY: Hourly pay commensurate with experience
