Victim Advocate 
 

CHANA is currently seeking a Victim Advocate to provide a full range of direct services to victims of all forms of elder abuse, sexual abuse, and domestic violence. Candidates must be familiar with victim advocacy, social services, and victim empowerment. Familiarity with the Maryland protective order process is preferred.  

The Victim Advocate will be expected to work hybrid, both remotely and in person.

About CHANA:

CHANA was established in 1995 as a response to domestic violence in the Jewish community.  CHANA now provides services to victims and survivors of many forms of abuse and trauma throughout Baltimore City and County.  CHANA is among more than 21 agencies and programs of The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore. The Victim Advocate will provide direct services to victims and survivors through:

  • Crisis Intervention, safety planning and supportive services
  • Assessment of risk, lethality, and barriers to safety
    Victim advocacy with community partners and government systems
  • Short term intensive case management
  • Referral to community resources
  • Urgent shelter and long-term housing services

The Victim Advocate will collaborate with professionals and other stakeholders:

 

  • Collaborate with DSS, APS, CPS, local hospitals and health care agencies, law enforcement, State’s Attorney
  • Collaborate with allied organizations, such as domestic violence and older adult service providers
  • Provide supportive referrals to other agencies when necessary
  • Attend trainings and conferences to enhance individual and team-wide knowledge base

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • At least three years experience working in Domestic Violence, Elder Abuse, or Crisis Intervention Services
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture, traditions, and community a plus, but not required.
  • Proficient in Google, Word, Excel, and Microsoft OneDrive and Sharepoint
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to empathize with the experience of trauma survivors
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care

 

Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000. Salary is commensurate with experience.
