Compensation 

· We’ll pay you an annual salary of $47,000 to $49,000

About the Job 

Under the direction of the Senior Youth & Teen Director, the Youth and Camp Manager collaborates closely with the Youth and Teen Manager to develop, implement, and oversee effective after-school programs. This involves coordinating participant activities and overseeing the recruitment, training, and supervision of part-time staff. Additionally, the Youth and Camp Manager partners with the JCamps Director to plan, implement, and guarantee the success of camp programs for kindergarten through 9th grade students, both during the school year and summer. As an integral member of the Youth and Teen team, the person in this role actively contributes to departmental and family programming throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities


Kids Connection 

  • Oversee all programmatic aspects of Kids Connection, collaborating closely with the Youth and Teen Manager.
  • Manage recruitment and retention of Kids Connection participants.
  • Lead and supervise staffing for kindergarten through 5th grade programming, ensuring age-appropriate, engaging content.
  • Foster collaboration with other Shalom Austin departments, integrating Sports & Fitness and Jewish Family Service into school-year programming.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with participants and families.
  • Develop and implement the Kids Connection programming calendar.
  • Maintain rosters for Kids Connection and Enrichment activities.
  • Coordinate with Partner Programs to enhance the overall after-school program experience.

JCamps

  • Integral member of the JCamps Admin Team, overseeing day-to-day operations, including scheduling, bunk placements, theme days, and programmatic lessons.
  • Responsible for creating and implementing the full JCamps daily schedule.
  • Supervises JCamps Specialists to ensure successful programming, collaborating with Shlichim and Shinshinim for community integration.
  • Assists in hiring JCamps staff, managing files, and paperwork.
  • Collaborates with JCamps Director for impactful Teen Camp experiences and ensures a positive employment experience for 10th-12th graders.
  • Works with JCamps team on Partner Programs, Day Off, and Break Camps operations.
  • Plans and executes special events in coordination with the JCamps team.

Youth and Teen Administration

  • Manages records, files, rosters, and paperwork for participants and staff in Youth and JCamps programming.
  • Collaborates with the Youth and Teen Team to ensure compliance with state licensing.
  • Coordinates and procures food and supplies for Youth and JCamps programming.
  • Assists in managing the youth budget and payroll.
  • Provides program transportation using organization vehicles when necessary.
  • Supports departmental special events as required.
  • Performs other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Jewish Studies, Child Development, or related field.
  • At least two years of relevant experience with children’s programming, after-school programming, summer camp or classroom teaching for grades K-5.
  • Cultural competency with Judaism or Jewish culture.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License.

Additional Requirements:

  • Position demands physical stamina, requiring being on feet for most of the day.
  • Regular computers work with prolonged monitor viewing.
  • Routine office physical tasks, including climbing stairs and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Van driving is expected during the school year and summer.
  • Ability to be outdoors, handling Austin summer heat, especially in and around pool/water activities.
  • Some off-campus work is involved.
